^6 glaze test results and help!!!!

Hi all.... Here are some results:

I tried Sharon's fake golden ash posted 4/10/96 (FMiranda
@alpha.cc.oberlin.edu) I fired it oxidation ^6 in the sitter with
envirovent running all the time. I got a lovely golden tone pot with bronzy
and green rivulets. This glaze was not too fluid despite the rivulets and I
was very happy with it.

This is something that I tried and was not quite so successful with. It
came out too dry, very displeasing where thin. But it had 0 fluidity. Can
any of you glaze gurus tell me how to improve this? It is possible that it
did not fire completely? Does it fall within limits for a ^6 glaze? Should
I be firing higher to get it to fully vitrify?

Neph Sy 32.15
Dolomite 24.62
Whiting 3.01
talc 3.01
Colemanite 11.60
EPK 25.62

Cobalt Carb 2%
Bentonite 3%

Since so many of you noted that the Chappel "Floating Blue" (aka ClayTimes
Blue Hare's Fur?) does not do well with other metals in the kiln, I haven't
tried it yet. But I'm kind of confused. Is ^7 in the sitter ok? And I
can't remember when I purchased by ^ 6 either witness or juniors and don't
know when "old" is. I do have a new box of 6 juniors. Are these 6s or 7s?

Alice is still in wonderland, with a big red nose from a miserable head cold
:-( And, yes, it's raining..... Emily

This recipe has the following analysis:-
K2O 0.04 Al2O3 0.38 SiO2 1.25
Na2O 0.12 B2O3 0.19 P2O5 0.0011
CaO 0.49
MgO 0.35
Al2O3/SiO2 1/3.29
The Basic oxides are strongly alkaline earths and the alumina silica
ratio is far too low. It is not surprising that this resulted in an
underfired glaze.

Emily, Whatdo you want out of this glaze ? to bring it closer to melt
take out 7 % of the epk and add 7 % flint,
if its still to dry add between 5 to 10 % fritt either 3110 or 3124 ,
....or 5 more gerst borate instead of fritt
hope that gets you closer to your goal but , What do you want to do with
this glaze??????
