Hello the list,
I am about to embark on a project to develop a glaze suitable for cone 6
majolica type decoration for a friend.
There are many good reasons for this project and I have been thinking so
for a long time - it is time to get on with it.
To those who would care to be a part of the testing group - let me know
where you are and I will include you. You must be willing to share all
results within the group.
To those of you who already have a working glaze at cone 6 - I need your
advice as a starting point - preferably in the form of a working glaze.
What can I offer in return? Maybe a better glaze from the standpoint of
durability, cost and fit.
I would prefer to have replies direct to me but if you prefer to post to
ClayArt I will gladly accept.
Be prepared to reveal what you use to weigh, how you mix and fire
(including firing cycle), what brands of materials you use, which cones you
use and what cone bend. I am sure the question of colourants will come up -
if there is a concensus I will include that information as well.
I will keep all your information private and confidential unless I have
permission to make it public.
Just in case - a warning - I don't work on Lead or Barium Glazes. If glazes
come with Barium they will be returned with Strontium. If they come with
lead I will dispose of them in a safe way.
Hope this gets someone enthused out there cause I am ready!
