I have volunteered to be in charge of the mug exchange that will
take place at NCECA in Mel Jacobson's hospitality suite.
I am of the mind that if you bring a mug you get a mug and a
lottery is held to see what mug you get. I am wondering what happens if
there is an uneven number of participants.
But... I will entertain all suggestions on how the FIRST ANNUAL
CLAYART MUG EXCHANGE should be carried out.

Gordon--
If everyone who brings a mug gets a mug it doesn't matter if there are an
uneven number of participants....all who bring will get. However, if
those who do not bring mugs particpate in the lottery, we all have a
problem, whether even or uneven--or flat or off-round depending on
your batt philosophy. Further, if participants bring two mugs, then we
will have some leftover and can then toss them to those potters who will
sit below the salt. Oh my....too much complexity.....

Gordon,
If you are concerned about more people showing up than mugs,
may I suggest that some of us who can't go be represented by a
mug? I, for one have not been filliwing the thread on NCECA for
a while because I will not be attending (I would love the
opportunity to rub shoulders and learn and share but am not to
that point yet) but would be more than happy to fire off a mug if
there is time. I am not a potter, but do create custom designed
mugs in ceramic (my original, my mold, the whole bit).
Just tell me where to send one or two and I'll be glad to. I think
the mug exchange is a great idea. If you happen to have one left
over, without a home, I'll be glad to have it in return. I'll cherish it
as a reminder of my long distance involvement with other
enterprising artists. If none are left, that's ok, too. I would just
like to be involved, somehow. Maybe others would be, too.
