Giant Greek Pithoi Jar Workshop
At the Banff Centre for the Arts
Banff, Alberta, Canada
All day Friday & Saturday August 16/17, 1996
Nikos Kavgalakis of Rethymnon, Crete, Greece, will build one Giant Jar, one
Traditional Cretan Pithari and one Giant Bowl Form one meter in diameter.
There are only a few exisiting potteries remaining in Greece that continue to
make pithoi as they were made in antiquity. This is a unique opportunity! In
addition to the once-in-a-lifetime chance to attend this workshop, come and see
presentations by the Greek and Canadian artists participating in the
Greek/Canadian Intercultural Ceramics Symposium.
