ba release info - specific qn.

WITHOUT going thru all the ins & outs of Barium for the umpteenth
time - and acknowledging upfront that rellease is affected by
the firing & cmposition, etc. of the whole glaze.......

Does anyone have info on approximately how much Ba can be used
in a specific base glaze before the Ba starts to release at
a toxic level? (Or any level?)

Does anyone know of specific glazes which may APPEAR to have
"too much" Ba but which in fact tested out food safe?

Yes, I intend to run some of my own tests someday....but
meanwhile this query is on behalf of a friend.

Any responses to me privately would be greatly appreciated
and many thanks in advance.

hi karen, my philosophy is i don't use barium at all in any object that may
be used as a food receptacle. if you must put it on the outside only//use a
normal glaze as a liner
