To those of you who kindly contributed your spent junior cones:

Thanks for your contributions and patience. The project was entitled
ConeAnne Goddess of Firing. With the help of my students (bribed with pizza
and extra-credit points) I created a showgirl-esque costume for nceca. It
consisted of a handmade bra and thong bottom, each covered with sewn-on
jr cones. The students helped to make wire eyelets which we epoxied onto
the hundreds of cones. I then sewed each spangle on by hand to the black
mesh and gold lame' outfit, decoratively mixing the red and white conettes.
Conceptually it was a hoot...however, not being blessed with a showgirl
physique, I had some problems getting, um, the proper exposure for the pc.
To those of you "fortunate" to have witnessed the wearing of the bra (over
my dress, however) at the nceca dance, consider yourself privileged viewers.
I'd approached Orton cone Co at their booth with an offer to display it there
but they declined. Not that they didn't think it amusing.
So the pc traveled back home with me where it is assured some exposure on
a mannequin provided by gallery, ThirdStone in Saugatuck MI. If you're ever
this way, please stop by.
Due to generous contributions, there is a surplus of cones (and
largely unusable bars). I may have to wait for another onset of dementia
to use them.
