Some time ago someone posted the formula for ^10 oxidation Berry
Rust. I made a test batch and liked it so much I made a 5000 gram
batch and glazed some large pots which came out beautifully.
The next time I used the glaze it seemed gritty when I mixed it up so
I sieved it again. This happened several times but the glaze was as
beautiful as before. However, the last time I used the glaze it was
no longer gritty but had thickened up so that I had to add water and
the results were that it was not as vibrant as before and did some
spitting on the kiln shelf. I have never before encountered such
a phenomina. Does anyone have some theories? The formula
is as follows:

Silica 27.7
EPK 18.18
NephSy 18.18
Dolomite 9.09
Gerstly Borate 9.09
Talc 9.09
Bone Ash 9.09
Iron 9.09

I can only think that the Gerstly Borate is somewhat water soluble,
though I have used this same batch in other glazes and not had this
problem. Would appreciate someone solving this mystery.
