Erin, I've been playing around with raw materials recently, trying to find
some uses for the Barnard Clay in my studio. I tried

Barnard Clay 85 (sometimes called Blackbird clay)
Neph Sy 15

and got an astonishingly velvety-looking stony matte black, on white stoneware
and porcelain, at cone 10 about 1/3 bent, in mild reduction.
A full cone ten and it would probably still be matte.
