Here's a pretty reliable Blue Celedon for Cone 9-11 gas firings ('makes no
difference whether updraft or downdraft). This glaze is a light, somewhat
dusty blue when used on white clay or porcelains. It's relatively
translucent/transparent with a gloss surface. Run through INSIGHT glaze
calculation software, its values are: cost/kg .27 (cheap?), ratio 9.88,
expansion 6.42, weight 392.23.

Here's the batch recipe as it was originally given to me, in grams
(percentages follow in parentheses)

BLUE CELEDON - Cone 9-11

Flint (silica) 3502 (38.32)
Whiting 1600 (17.51)
Custer (potash) feldspar 2224 (24.34)
EPK (kaolin) 1630 (17.84)
Red Iron Oxide 162 (1.77)
Cobalt Carbonate 20 (0.22)

Application: I suggest a "medium" thickness application. It's a good
"dipping" glaze (I've never applied it using a brush, other than on test
tiles -- to no ill effect).

Enjoy!
