I bought a P-200 from Bluebird a year ago (the demo model at last year's
NCECA, at a nice discount). It is quiet, stable, sturdy, has a nice large
work table. It has the smoothest foot control of any electric--and I think
I've tried them all. Good even at slow speeds, e.g. this morning I threw a
bowl of about 18" diameter, and even when I was all the way out on the lip,
with the wheel turning very slowly, I had complete control. No sudden
accelerations or irregularities in speed, such as I have experienced with
some other electrics, especially Brents. The Soldner will slow down if you
exert a lot of force on it, e.g. when centering a large amount of grogged
clay, but the foot pedal enables one to compensate. An expensive wheel,
but amortized over its life expectancy, worth the cost if you can spring
for the initial investment. I recommend the Soldner highly!
