Got my teflon ribs from Bob Howell (remember the brave guy who offered
to make 'em for 3500 people?) I may be just having a good case of
tool infatuation but so far I'm having a great time with this. My
work is all handbuilt and so I'm faced with the job of smoothing and
compressing my slabs to prepare them for use and with smoothing over
joints when making the pieces. The teflon rib is really terrific for
this job. The first clay I used it on was a heavily grogged red clay
that is normally difficult to smooth because the grog partcles catch
on the tool and drag a gouge out of the surface. With the teflon,
it just slides right over the grog AND the grog disappears into the
surface. Yowee. This is fun. The results are not nearly as
dramatic with porcelain slabs but still this is a nice addition to
the arsenal, I mean, toolbox.

$5 to Bob Howell gets you one of these babies. (bobhowell@linknet.net)
