brush cleaning (test!)

In the sixties, when I was in art school in Pittsburgh, I had a painting
prof whose test for clean brushes was as follows:

"If you're willing to put the brush in your mouth, it's clean! Anything
less ... back to the sink!"

I've abided by that standard for more than thirty years. I don't practice
the test often, but I ALWAYS keep it in mind as I stand by the sink,
sudsing and rinsing!

A good quality, well maintained brush can last decades. They sort of wear
down to little nubs...
