btu/cf/hr and chamber/flue estimates

I am preparing to move my studio and kiln from a home setting into a
large commercial building. This will be great space wise but will
neccesitate more exposure to city inspectors and codes compliance in
getting set up. I was hoping for a few opinions on the following
items. Any other input is welcome.

The Universal Commercial Codes only have references to kilns under 20
cu. ft. I am planning to build a 60 cu. ft. forced air kiln. Are kilns
considered medium duty gas appliances?

To calculate the gas requirements and supply pipe size I need to figure
the BTU per cu. ft. per hour. Olsen's kiln book estimates 10,000
BTU/CF/Hr. Mark Ward's burner catalog estimates 16,000 BTU/CF/Hr. Any
opinions?

And before I have a hole cored through the concrete ceiling and buy the
double walled insulated flue pipe, how big does the flue for a 60 cu.
ft. forced air kiln need to be? Both Olsen's kiln book and Mark Ward's
burner catalog say about 120-130 sq. inches (9"x13.5"?). The Bailey
Kiln catalog says they use a 10" dia. (78.54 sq.in.) flue for kilns up
to 100 cu.ft. That seems to be a huge difference!

Thanking you in advance!
