Nils Lou, kiln building workshop

Nils Lou will oversee and guide the construction of a new Minnesota
Flat Top Kiln during a three day workshop in Oct. Saturday, Sunday,
(Monday-Columbus day) Oct. 11-12-13, 1997. The location will be at the
studio of Potter and sculpture Lynn Rank. She lives and works in the
central Sierra Nevada Mountain community of Auberry, California.

Nils will give slide shows and talks as work on the kiln progresses.
This will be a hands on opportunity for anyone who would like to learn
the art of kiln construction. Learn from a master kiln designer and
builder. Spend three days in the mountains with potters, clay artist,
and students of the ceramic arts. You will have the opportunity to ask
all the questions and get answers from an expert.

The workshop will only be available to 30 people so make contact with
Lynn and Bob Rank as soon as you can commit. The fee will be $75.00
for the three days, all or part depending on your time constraints.
There will be room for some camping at the workshop sight, campers can
come on Friday the 10th and there are state park, and national forest
camp sights in the area. For folks who like to sleep in a bed, motels
are 30 to 45 minuets away in Clovis and Fresno, or up in Shaver Lake,
15 minutes away, a little farther into the mountains.
