Just an example, not singling out the person who wrote this:

Umm, at the risk of practising medicine without a license, this
sounds more like tendinitis than carpal tunnel syndrome. The cures
are not the same! My tendinitis finally went away when I rested my
arm for long enough, which is what the sports doc said would happen.
So please don't assume that what you have is carpal tunnel syndrome
unless you have a medical diagnosis from the appropriate specialist.
(When I first had the problems with my arm, a nurse practitioner had
the right diagnosis but gave me the wrong kind of brace -- the one
for wrist problems instead of the one for tennis elbow (a.k.a.
tradesmans' elbow). And guess what. The wrong brace didn't help
and the right one did.) So just a reminder to be sure of what the
problem is before applying a treatment...
