Jenny..
You could also try "Scotch Brite" (3-M product) an abrasive nylon
mesh..used for everything from scrubbing pots and pans...to large 20" dia.
(round) floor machine scrubbing pads. They come in colors which tell you
the degree of abrasiveness...White for soft polishing pad....through
blue.......and green scrubbing pad ( a good all purpose "glaze removing
pad" ) red...quite abrasive...and brown and black...like REALLY
abrasive.....
Put the pad on a flat surface where it won't move around and rotate the
footed or un-footed potttery in a circular motion...using a slight downward
pressure. This...with practice...will remove most if not all the excess
glaze from the foot rim/ring. The glaze dust will settle under the
pad...it falls through the fibers.
Wear a dust mask.
Carpet works, but not nearly as good as "Scotch Brite' pads, or other
brands that are available... IMHO.
ALSO... Small square Scotch Brite abrasive pads can be used by
hand......like sand paper..... and larger 18-20" round pads ( cost about
US $ 20. per box of 5 of the 20 " dia pads ... wholesale)
MPF ( my personal favorite ) is the green scrub pad.
