Linda :

I've tried both of these glazes with mixed results. The amber celadon is
almost identical to Cushing Amber Celadon. A better transparent amber
honey glaze is the following :

Weiser's Honey ^ 9 Reduction ( I fire to ^ 11)

Potash Feldspar 36.7
Flint 25.5
Whiting 18.9
Ball Clay 9.2
Soda Feldspar 5.1
Kaolin 2.6
Dolomite 2.0
Red Iron Oxide 8.0 %

The Apple Green Celadon is very similar to one I've used with good
results except you left out the chrome oxide. Try the following :

Coleman Apple Green Celadon ^ 10 Reduction

Whiting 17.95
Potash Feldspar 43.59
EPK Kaolin 10.26
Flint 28.20
100.00 %
Add:
Chrome Oxide 0.25 %
Red Iron Oxide 0.77 %

If your interested in a blue celadon try the following :

Coleman Ice Blue Celadon ^ 10 Reduction

Potash Feldspar 46
Barium Carbonate 16
China Clay 6 ( I use EPK )
Silica 32
100 %
Add:
Yellow Iron Oxide 1 %

Note: A very nice glaze. Unfortunately, it crazed on two different
porcelain bodies I tried it on.

Another thing you might try is firing celadons in a saggar. Someone on
the list correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Chinese fire celadons in
saggars in a wood kiln. I've fired in saggars with no lids with good
results.

Good luck!

It's my understanding that ochre changed a couple of years ago and amber
celadon just isn't the same with the new ochre. Maybe you can find a supply
of the old ochre and test it.
