centering - and wedging

For my own internal arguments about why the clay won't OBEY in the proper
subservience of mere earth, over which I have been given dominion, I try to
think of the clay as a very viscous liquid. My job, since it won't willingly
OBEY, is to direct its flow (getting oriental now) into the paths and forms I
desire. If the clay is not throughly mixed, or if it has non-clay things in
it, it will not flow well. Wedging removes air and mixes the clay so it has
one resistance to flow. Since I am not met with the sudden changes in
resistance from air bubbles or stiffer spots, my clay flows into the most
exquisite forms yet imagined, well, nearly. Wedge correctly, wedge lots,
center better.
