Hi, Leslie,
Make you cabinet knobs with a hollow area in the interior. Make the area
large enough to receive either poured plaster or a really good cement/glue
like Goop. After you have fired and glazed them, set the attaching screws
head-first into the cavity.
I would also suggest that you make extra knobs in case some don't work out
or you strip the hardware at some point down the line, but you probably
already know that. : )
I'm doing basically the same thing by attaching a top knob to a large
vessel. I got the idea from a large 3-piece antique German vase.
