ceramics of the world by camusso (abrams pub.) is large, has beautiful
pictures but spotty text, and is entirely western civ in orientation.
probably still available at 30% off from the remainder house of Edward
Hamilton in Falls Village, CT 06031-5000. after enjoying a semester of the
subject, i did an independent study to touch on the rest of the planet
(africa, se asia, india, etc) and came away from the year's experience
thinking that a volume on each tradition would make an wonderful
encyclopedia of ceramic art history. you have a big job in just trying to
gather the diverse resources to make a bibliography at this point. yikes
and good luck. at times like this i wish i were working on a ph.d. in
ceramic art history. but where would that happen? kik in nh

Marcia - How about Emmanuel Cooper's History of Pottery? Or
call Steve Branfman (?) owner of Potter's Shop (Boston area) & see what he
says is out there. Karen Gringhuis

Am involved in a seminar in May 2002 with several
international potters. Putting together a reading list
on ceramic art history. Certainly rereading Garth
Clark's The Potter's Art and Color & Fire. Any other
ideas would be most appreciated. Thanks, nezbah
