The Little Black Book

Scott's Book Shop
30595 Eight Mile
Livonia, MI 48152-1798

contains the names of almost every mold co. in the U.S.--addresses etc.

Or you can get mold catalogs from local ceramic suppliers/or through Robins'
Lamp Specialties too. Their number is 1-800-22555267--yes you must dial all
those numbers:) I have no idea how they did this or why, but doesn't work
any other way.

Good Luck

Sara

Hi my name is Debbie. Does anyone know of custom mold makers in the Los
Angeles area or mail order anywhere. Are there any how to make your own
molds books out there? Is it better to make my own or have them made
for me? If there is someone with experience out there in mold making I
would like to hear from you.

e-mail me information on just what you are trying to accomplish and I'll send
you what you need.I've studied with Bob Sedestrom, Donald Frith (HIS BOOK IS
GREAT), and Richard Notkin.

Hi Debbie,
I'm not a master mold maker, but I've made a dozen or so plaster molds in 1, 2
and multiple parts for various uses. There is a good book on basic mold
making that I have refered to for my work, building stage props, and you might
find it useful. The Prop Builder's Molding and Casting Handbook by Thurston
James, is a well detailed and informative book for the beginner at casting. I
know there are other books out there as well, so if you hear of any good
titles I'd love for you to pass them along to me.

Good luck, and feel free to e-mail me if you have a specific question about
the process.

Hi Debbie I know of two books that might help you if you feel energenic
enough to start making your own molds one is "Plaster Mold and Model
Making" by Chaney & Skee , very technical (isbn 0-671-60896-7) and
"Mold Making for Ceramics" by Donald E. Frith (isbn 0-8019-7359-7) In my
limited experience mold making is not the easiest thing to do but lots
cheaper then having it done for you. Good luck Anna

I am looking for a commercial supplier of single sided ceramic molds. Any
help or information would be appreciated.
