Try the Inner London Education Authority for classes about lots of wonderful
things. That is where I got my start in the world of clay.

There are LOTS of classes in and around London. The best start would
be the nearest library, or if you feel affluent, bookshop, to look at
a copy of Floodlight. This is a publication which lists info on all
the adult education classes, day, evening, with or without exams,
certificates, whatever.

The local library for wherever you will be living will also have a
copy of the prospectus for their own area, but if not pottery classes
listed then Floodlight will guide you to the other boroughs.

I go to an evening class at the City Lit - short for City Literary
Institute, but they do things that are not literary as well! They
do several types of pottery courses. My evening is a general,
everyone doing their own thing, unstructured arrangement. There are
also structured courses, and some part-time diploma courses which I
don't know much about, but their prospectus gives all the information
you would need.

When do you get here? the adult ed classes usually start mid to
late September. Pottery is always overbooked, but if you are late,
it's worth persevering, if necessary getting on to a waiting list, as
people do tend to drop out by Christmas.

Good luck!

fortunately,
if you have to be stuck in a dreary office,
it helps to have a nice view, I suppose
