THANK-GOD-FOR-SMALL-FAVORS-AND-I'M-ASTONISHED-TO-BE-STILL-SANE:
(I will not debate the sanity issue; I admit I volunteered) BUT:

The Ceramics USA exhibition is up; opening reception is Thursday August 29 from
6:00 - 9:00 p.m.

In addition to the juried exhibition, there are selected works by inaugural
juror Val Cushing and by this year's juror, Don Reitz.

Don Reitz will present a lecture and slides of his work at 4:00 p.m. in the
art building at the University of North Texas, corner of Mulberry and Welch,
Denton,
Texas. He'll do a gallery talk at approximately 6:00 p.m., to discuss some
of the selections. Or whatever he wants to discuss. All open to the
public, of course.

There is a workshop on Friday and Saturday, begins Friday 9:00 a.m. Fee for
workshop is $35 for the two days.

For those who can't make the exhibit, it will go up on the internet on Friday,
August 30. A lot of good work; several clayarters are in the exhibit, too.

I am not sure of the address, but believe it will be the UNT art department's
page:
http://www.art.unt.edu/

I'll correct that if there is an error.

It is a strong exhibition. A hundred pieces were selected, from 85 artists.
Only a half-dozen or so broke in transit so it is a big show, plus
Cushing's and Reitz's work.

Y'all come see it.

For those who have already sent for a prospectus for the Ceramics
USA exhibit, please be patient a bit. They are not in from the
printer yet; soon as they are, I'll send them. Should be soon.

Dannon, I know that you said that the prospectus are not back from the
printer yet, but when they are would you send one my way. How are things
going up your way. Doug said that you are going to be building a wood
kiln or something like that. Let me know when you send those out okay,
thanks, Jennifer

We would like to announce that the awards for Ceramics USA will
be approximately $1,000 this year. We would also like to thank
Trinity Ceramics in Dallas for their continued support of this
exhibition, particularly this year when NCECA'a advent in Ft.
Worth has no doubt greatly increased the calls on their
generosity.

DAVID SHANER is selecting the exhibition from slides submitted
by entrants. The juror of awards will be JACK TROY. In addition
to being awards juror, Jack will be conducting a workshop at the
University of North Texas from Sunday March 22 through Tuesday
March 24 (just prior to the opening of NCECA/FT.Worth.) There
will be a reception for Ceramics USA and a concurrent exhibition
of work by Jack Troy at the School of Visual Arts gallery at 7:00
p.m. on TUESDAY. Jack will present a gallery talk re: the
exhibition; there will be food, frolic, conversation, and a
goodish crowd. And, just for lagnippe, there will be several
other ceramics exhibitions on campus, plus some off-campus, and
at Texas Woman's University (nearby), too.

More information regarding the workshop will be forthcoming
as soon as it is available.

For those who may plan to come early for some/all of this
event, Denton is about 25 minutes north of Ft. Worth on I-35.

THE DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES TO CERAMICS USA IS JANUARY 20. Email
entry blanks can be had from Doug Gray, .

I found out today that the P.O. Box number listed for
Ceramics USA in Ceramics Monthly, AND on the prospectus,
is wrong. Apparently people have been getting their
requests and entries returned marked "no such box number".

The correct address is:

Ceramics USA - Gallery Office
University of North Texas
P.O. Box 305100
Denton, TX 76203-5100

Sorry - they changed it without notifying us, and it has
caused some problems. If you've had your slides or
requests returned, our apologies, and please re-send to
the corrected address.

Thanks,

Dannon Rhudy
coordinator, Ceramics USA

Doug Gray and I are not coordinating Ceramics USA
this year. It's being done by the University of North Texas,
though. Should be a good exhibit.

I just got a "call for entries" card, and here's the
information for those who might be interested:

JUROR: Doug Casebeer

Entry Deadline: May 30

For more information contact the University of North
Texas Gallery at 940-565-4005 or go to website:

http://www.art.unt.edu

email: gallery@unt.edu

The exhibition will be held in October, I believe.
