To the List:
Doug Gray and I will be coordinating the Ceramics USA 1998
exhibition (again), and want to announce, with great pleasure,
that DAVID SHANER will be the juror for the 1998 exhibition.
The exhibition is a broad spectrum show; works are included from
sculpture to utilitarian/functional work. For those who want to
know, selections seem to be pretty evenly divided between sculpture
and pots, past shows. Past jurors were Val Cushing (1995) and Don
Reitz (1996). Awards have been in the neighborhood of $1,200
-$1,500, I think.
We extended the time between exhibits, this time, so that the
exhibition would be up during the 1998 NCECA meeting in Fort Worth
(about 25 minutes south of
Denton/Univ. of North Texas). The gallery is about 3500 sq. feet,
and it is a sizeable exhibition. Close to 100 pieces both previous
shows. In addition, there will be a concurrent show of some
selected work of David Shaner's at the entry to the gallery.
David Shaner will be presenting some kind of workshop/lecture at
the University of North Texas just prior to the opening of NCECA;
and will do a gallery talk sometime on either Tuesday evening
or Wednesday late afternoon the 24th or 25th of March. The
workshop is being presented by the University of North Texas, and
I don't have details on it yet, but will announce them soon as
I get them.
The prospectuses (prospecti??) will not actually be ready for a
bit, but you can send an SASE and we'll send them soon as the
printer is done with them.
Entry constraints are that the work has to be predominantly clay,
made in the last two years, and the entrant must be a current
U.S. resident.
