Several people on clayart have requested information about the CERAMICS USA
exhibit. I will post this information to the list once, but so as not to glog
the list with replies, please send any other requests for information dirrectly
to myself. My email address is at the end of this post. I can email a copy of

The juror for the exhibition this year is Mr. David Shaner of Bigfork, Montana.
Mr Shaner is a graduate of Alfred University, a guiding force for the Archie
Bray Foundation, and a NEA grant recipient. He has been a professional
ceramicist for over thirty-five years and is widely recognized for his pottery
and glazes. His work includes both thrown and handbuilt forms. For examples of
his work see the April 1990 edition of Ceramics Monthly
>>>>>ELIGIBILITY
Ceramics USA 1998 seeks a comprehensive overview of contemporary clay work in
the United States. Examples of functional ceramics, vessels, and ceramic
sculpture will be included in the exhibition to illustrate the broad range of
possibilities within this medium. Ceramcis USA is open to ceramics artists
currently residing in the United States. All work sudmitted must be original,
must use clay as the primary material and must be completed within the last two
years. Works that have been exhibited previously through this exhibition will
not be considered.
>>>>>SIZE LIMITATIONS
To comply with established shipping restrictions, pedestal or free standing work
may be no greater than 130 inches, combined height and girth. Wall pieces may
be up to 1500 square inches in any configuration. Weight for any piece must not
exceed 75 pounds. Ceramcis USA reserves the right to exclude work that presents
complex exhibition or assembly problems.
>>>>>DELIVERY AND LIABIITY
Detailed shipping instructions for those pieces selected will be included with
the letter of acceptance. Shipment of accepted works will be accepted through
UPS and US POST only. Works must be shipped with a check for return shipping in
order to appear in the exhibition.
All works must have a declared insurance value which must not exceed the selling
price, if the work is for sale. Insurance during shipment to and from the
gallery is the responsibility of the artist. Works will be insured by the
University of North Texas while in its possession.
Art work may be photographically reproduced for publicity purposes. Submitting
an entry constitutes an agreement on the part of the entrant to the conditions
stated in this prospectus.

Work will be juried from slides, plastic or cardboard mounts only. Each artist
may submit slides of up to three (3) pieces, with no more than one (1) slide
per piece, for a maximum of three (3) slides. Accepted works will be reviewed
upon delivery. Only those pieces accurately depicted in the slides will be
included in the exhibition and eligible for awards.

Entrants may submit one slide per entry, a maximum of three entries. Indicate

One last time...
The deadline for entry is fast approaching and I have been getting an increasing
number of requests for the 1998 Ceramics USA exhibit which will run concurrent
with NCECA this year. Just to save time I am posting it to the list one last
time. If your interested in entering just print out this post. Fill out the
bottom portion marked ENTRY FORM and return it with you slides and entry fee to
the address on the form. Share the post. Spread the word. Judging from the
entries we received thus far, this years exhibition looks like it is going to be
