The full title of Bill Holm's book is "An Alphabet of China Essays COMING
HOME CRAZY" published by Milkwood Editions, PO Box 3226, Minneapolis, MN
55403. I am pursuing this simply because it is one of the most intriguing,
thought-provoking, delightful books I have ever read. And it is very
accessible for a busy person. You can pick it up for 10 minutes and find a
great story. I highly recommend it for anyone, traveler or not. Bill is a
6'4" red-grey-haired, bearded Icelander who grew up in western Minnesota.
He really stood out-literally-in China where he taught as an exchange
professor of literature for a year in Xi'an.

He is also a very talented musician (one of my favorite encounters with him
was a poetry reading at which he also played Scott Joplin on his hand-built
virginal (similar to a harpsichord). A total delight! I am fortunate to
be able to call him a friend!
