Yes... I too prefer the look and feel of handmade work... the issue is one
of economic survival and not of which one has a greater asthetic value...
all other things being equal of course... the same applys to fine
furniture... yes I would take a rocking chair made by Sam Maloof any day
over an Ethan Allen factory made rocking chair...(and the cost difference
is $20,000 compaired to $200)... So can you make more money selling factory
made chairs at $200 a copy or handmade at $20,000 a copy... depends on the
market place and money still makes the world go round it seems... These are
both economic and value judgements and they are intertwined (sp?) at least
to some extent...
