Can anyone recommend a clear glaze formula for cone 6 oxidation that has at
least 7% CaO? I am presently using Gerstley Borate 45.5%, EPK 22.2% and
Flint 32.3%. I do a lot of underglaze and slip decoration on my pots under
this clear glaze. Many of the stains (pinks, lavenders) don't hold up even
though the manufacturer says they should. I was thinking that maybe some
calcium would help out.
While you are looking up
your glaze formulas, does anyone have a ^6 clear crackle glaze??? Does such
a thing exist????
Thanks
for sharing your glazes. I would much rather try a glaze that works for
someone else, than just try something out of a book.
I plan to use
these glazes on ^6 porcelain, maybe Miller-laguna #15.
Thanks for everyone's help. JoAnn Axford

Hi JoAnn
This took me long enough, but I haven't noticed any other answers on the list.
These are Plainsman recipes
1213P Calcium Matte ^5
Wollastonite 33.88
Ferro Frit 3134 21.10
Kaolin 45.01
Smooth, beautiful matte surface.
Pink Glaze Base ^5
Ferro Frit 3134 20.59
Kaolin 22.79
Flint 42.65
Whiting 13.97
Good Luck!
