Any advice on helpful tools, articles, books, etc. on constructing an =
aesthetic
Web page? Also leads on find economical access for such? I'm reading up in
some computer newsgroups, and getting the gist of the thing. I know I'm not
interested in the template approach (I'd like to come up with something a =
little
less pat) and apparently I'm not allergic to HTML. Like most potters, I =
have
more time than money to spend on it (and of course, time's limited, too=21) =
I may
or may not have a provider through the college where I teach. TIA, Kelly

You might try the book called "Creating Killer Websites" by David Segal.
It is website creation from the graphic designer's perspective. There is
also a website on-line supporting the book.
It will require that you have familiarity with Photoshop and graphics
tools and some HTML. Barring that do a search on-line -- there are free
html guides available that you can print or download which will give you
all the necessary html commands to code your page. If you can get someone
to scan your image files and help from your provider to load them, try to
remember if there is a lot of color you are better off with jpeg images
-- the compression algorithm is better at retaining the majority of color
and the files are smaller (therefore download faster).
If you have any questions I would be happy to help (gratis).
Good luck,
Nicole
