I am a new subscriber and still a novice on the Internet, and have tried
to send the following question on the Clayart listserve. I am not sure
it got anywhere. So I hope I will be forgiven for trying once more.
Using Insight and The Magic of Fire we had no problem getting a glaze
that would show Spectrum underglaze colors on Miller 005 stoneware
porcelain fired electrically to cone 6. We like this clay for oven ware
and have used a glaze that shows blues and does not craze (expansion
7.13). Our problem is that all the glazes that show the pinks and
greens craze, even though we have changed the expansion from 7.67 to
6.55. The best sofar is: Flint 38, EPK 19, Gerstley Borate, 10, Whiting
17, Kona F-4, 23, Superpax 3. Expansion is 6.55.
The glaze that shows the blues, but not the pinks, and does not craze at
all, is: Flint, 20, Dolomite, 5, Talc, 3, EPK , 13, Gerstley B. 40, G200
Feldspar 22, Superpax 15. Expansion is 7.13.
Does anybody have a glaze for this clay that shows the pinks etc and
does not craze? And why do we get crazing over this range of expansions?

I got more samples of your clay with 1214M glaze out of our
kiln. They are badly crazed yet on our clays it is fine.
Did you say you had a recipe for that clay body?
