creamy satin glaze

Hi Clayart people,
I have been so successful in obtaining great advise and great
glazes from clayart, that I thought I would beg for one more glaze recipe.
I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to develop a cone 6 creamy, spodumene
like glaze, that would break to a rusty color. I would like good coverage
and character, or depth, to the glaze, and would love it if it were food
safe. Would anyone out there be willing to share such a recipe? I don't
want much, do I? But I have found this group to be such a valuable
resource that I can't help but ask.
TIA, Toni

Toni-In oxidation this may be difficult. You didn't say what type of
firing you will be doing. I may have a glaze for reduction that does
what you want. Let me know.

Assuming you are firing redtn. in the C/9-10 range such a glaze as you seek
is Mamo with tin oxide added. If yu can find a cc of it & revise it to C/6,
it may do what you seek. Sorry, I do NOT have a C/6 version & can't supply
the C/10 version for 2 weeks but perhaps someone else can.

This is a glaze that's a creamy white-not sure if it breaks the way you want to
Colemanite 12.75 (I used Gersley Borate)
Dolomite 21.82
Spodumene 27.82
EPK 8.18
Silica 10.91

Zircopax 4.45

Toni,

Sorry to take so long, but the first sale is over, and I can now take the
time....

Cream breaking Red ^6 Ox.

Gerstley Borate 35
Soda Feldspar 15
Whiting 10
Barium Carb. 5
Flint/Silica 10
Tin Oxide 13
Red Iron Oxide 2

Comes out really nice, a curdled smooth surfaced cream, breaking red on thin
application spots. Food safe? would have to test re: Barium leaching.
Probably not. I've only used it on decorative pieces, or outsides of bowls etc.
