I want to try some crystaline glazes, but don't have any recipes. Could
someone help? Still pretty new at the pottery thing... the local potters
say they gave up on crystals after they ruined their tenth kiln shelf... so
no recipes ther! I use a mid-fire white clay fired to about 1180c ..not
sure what that is in cones.. but can go higher..would like a recipe without
iron..would like to use stains for colour. Oh, and please don't refer me to
magazines... I'm in New Zealand and can't get them easily! Thanks :-)

I know of some potters that place their crystalline glazed pieces on a
"foot" made of bisqued fired clay... like a small flat slab placed between
the pot and the kiln shelf and this is used to catch the glaze drips...
after firing the piece is then removed and taken to the grinding wheel...
