Bonnie -- I really recommend Currie's book Stoneware Glazes. It is
not a book of recipes (like for example Conrad or Cooper) but rather
a lab manual on how to concoct, test, evaluate, and adjust glazes.
It is very clear and very informative but it is packed full of
charts, graphs, data and lab protocols. There isn't a single pot or
glaze photograph anywhere. So it is NOT for the science-averse
potter. Anyone who has been doing battle with understanding glazes,
however, will find this book an invaluable aid.
