Hi all
I've got an opportunity to take a day or two and visit the Dallas area
Potters/Studios. I'm wondering if I could get a quick pointer to
where/who to visit. It's a bit of a rush though, I'm off on a Jet plane
tomorrow and will have a couple of days to look around then it's back to
work...
Thanks...I'll be able to pick up any replies while I'm down there as
well.

Don... leaving when it's just starting to get sunny in Vancouver Canada.

Don,

It is likely to be hot in Dallas. On the other hand, it could rain...a WARM
rain...

Go to Deep Ellum (the artists/studios area, not too far from the
"commercial" arts/museums district). James Watral has a ceramics studio
there in a large building that contains many other artists/studios also.
He's in phone book (I'm not in Dallas so can't look it up for you). There's
a Dallas or North Texas craft guild, could probably direct you to studios
too. Randy Brodnax is there, you could likely call him. I don't know what
exhibits are up, but there'll be a bunch in Deep Ellum: there are studios
and galleries all up and down the streets. How many of them will be
ceramics is another question. Dallas museums in general don't consider
ceramics to be art unless they are at least 4,000 years old, but they have some.
The African-American museum there did have a good ceramics exhibit up, but I
think it is gone, not sure. Lots of small galleries have ceramics. Have a
good time.

You will have to stop in and see Angela and John at Trinity
Ceramics Supply. Other than that I'd be interested to see who you get
referenced to. The ground hog Kiln at Old City Park in interesting also.
