I have a box of glaze recipies that is overflowing! Can anyone sugest a
good data base for my computer that I can put all these glazes on? It
must work in Windows 95 and it should be able to sort the glazes out
almost any way I want it to (by color, cone, texture, weather it is food
safe or not, Reduction or oxidation ect.......)

Rebecca, you could do a real simple database in Excel, or one in FileMaker
Pro (altho, being a Mac person, I don't know if the latter program exists
in both DOS/Windows and Mac platforms). If you have either program, but
aren't sure how to proceed, you could contact me directly and I could offer
some clues.

In response to Rebecca's question on databases and Joanna's comments about
FileMaker Pro:

There's a FREE database form for FileMaker Pro on the CeramicsWeb. This should
handle all your needs. FileMaker is fast, VERY easy to use, and now in version
3.0 fully relational if you have a need to link this data to some other data.
FileMaker Pro runs on both Macs and Windows, including Windows 95.

Hi Rebecca

I am not sure what your other needs (from the database) are but if you
are willing to learn the application DBase and/or Microsoft Access
will do the job. Warning, though, it does need many hours of sweating
before you come up with what is right for you: you need to design the
database tables that will hold the data, create reports (in case you
want
to print), queries (for sorting) and probably other things that I cannot
think of right now. You might want to check the site
http://digitalfire.com
they have some software that might answer your need. If you can't find
anything, email me directly. I am a programmer and maybe I can help you
to come up with something.
