I just opened new issue of Craft Report to find the following:

[It is probably not possible for you to change your travel dates, but you are
only one month shy of] the Smithsonian Craft Show which will be held from
April23-25 at the National Museum Blding. The following week, the
Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery is hosting a two-day "Festival of Craft
Education", featuring leading craft schools and programs from around the
country. The festival, open to the public and free, is scheduled for April
26-27 form 10 to 5pm. The activities are aimed at high school and college
students, craft artists and professionals, art and craft teachers, etc. The
festival is a highlight of Craft Weekend, and will also include a seminar,
tours of private collections, and a dinner, themed "A Sentimental Journey" to
celebrate the anniversaries of the Renwick Alliance and the Gallery. The
Renwick Gallery is celebrating its 25th year as The national gallery
dedicated to American craft.

"The Renwick at 25" a special exhibit of works from the permanent collection
will open March 14 ... sounds like you'll get to see this.
