When I apply decals, which is as seldom as possible, I soak them until
they slip off, put them on the ware smooth them to eliminate bubbles,
and an hour later there are more bubbles to smooth. I check them the
next day and sometimes more have appeared. I'd appreciate suggestions
from those who use decals frequently on application tips to avoid this.

After much experamentation, I found my greatest success with my
homemade decals (using materials designed for this purpose) in soaking
barely long enough to get the decal off the paper in one piece. This
makes sense, I decided, because the longer the decal soaks, the more of
the adhesive is desolved into the water. I have accidentally left decals
until they practically floated off the paper. These could blow off in a
slight breeze once they had dried on the ceramic.

Try using a rubber rib to smoothe the decal on the surface. Or contact some
of the slipcasting/greenware hobby stores or suppliers. The often carry
similar items which serve as a squeege type tools to remove airbubbles from
under the decal.

Contact Melody at Coloriffic Porcelain in Lynnwood, Washington. Phone 206-
743-159. She or her mom can help or can point you in teh right direction.
