Just fresh back from a quick course in silk screening,
and making Decals / Transfers. One can make them out
of anything, underglaze, stains, oxides and overglazes.
The nice thing about using stains, underglazes or oxides,
you can just glaze normally on top of them and they are
basically "Inglaze Transfers". They far more durable, the
finish is smooth just like after a normal glaze firing. You
do not have to be restricted as suggested by Andre' van
de Putte, maybe one could even put the transfer on top
of an already fired glaze and refire to the same temp. I
do not think one could put a transfer on top of raw glaze
because one cannot get all the air out causing bubbles
under the transfer. Hope this helps Ralph in balmy PE
SA.

Ralph -
This sounds like an interesting course. Are there any books on the subject
that you know about? Are all decals made by silkscreening?
