deep maroon translucent glaze

I'm looking for a deep maroon translucent or semi-opaque glaze for cone
6-9 oxidation. I work in white stoneware and porcelain. Any help would
be appreciated. I've never had a class in glaze chemistry and tried to
teach this stuff to myself with little success.
TIA

I have a burgundy that might help. Not sure if it is dark enough for you
or not. It uses mason stains. If you don't get anything else, let me
know & I'll send it. I would now but it is at school.

Sandra

The following glaze is called Tom West's Red. It is an intriguing glaze.
I used crocus martis or purple iron oxide I got a nice deep translucent
burgundy.

Tom West's Red

Frit 3269 27
Gerstely Borate 15
Spodumene 40
epk 18

add 10% crocus martis

Sandy, this is a translucent maroon glaze where thin, but pools with the
typical marbley blue look of rutile (but *wait* there is no rutile *shrug*)
It's not pink on my test at all (on white stoneware)...
Cone 6 oxidation

Iain
In preparing to mix up a trial of Tom West"s Red this morning, I realized
that I do not have Frit 3269, nor could I find it on my Frit reference list.
I have 3110, 3195, and 3124. Would any of these substitiute?
Louise Jenks in my Cincinnati basement mixing glaze tests. No, I do not have
radon!!!

I have had several request for this glaze recipe. It is a cone 6
Oxidation glaze. It is more opaque than some may want. It is satin to
semi-glossy.

Burgundy

F-4 Soda Feldspar 53
Silica 20
Whiting 15
Barium Carb 6
I use 4.5 of Strontium
EPK 6

Add 10% Deep Crimson Mason Stain.

Hope this helps someone.
