The Potters Guild in Roswell, GA will hold a weekend workshop with Don Reitz
March 8-9, 1997. Don will demonstrate throwing/altering/joining large
pieces; making utilitarian ware; painting on clay. It's guaranteed to be an
entertaining, educational weekend punctuated with Don's philosophy about Why
he makes things with clay, not just How. There will also be a retrospective
slide presentation of his 40 years working in clay. Register early - by
Feb. 21st...the fee is $100.

DON REITZ WORKSHOP
For those in the southern states; Don Rietz will be giving a two day
workshop at McNeese State University in Lake Charles Louisianna on
October 29th & 30th. Don will demonstrate from 9am to 5pm on these two
days. In addition there will be a slide lecture on thursday night at
7pm. This workshop is free and open to the public. If you have questions

I went to my first pottery workshop this weekend and lived to tell it.
;-)
I attended the Don Reitz workshop in Columbus, Ohio. I thoroughly
enjoyed the workshop and being with other potters for the first
time ever. I tried to find out if any other Clayarters were there,
no would admit to it, though the name came up a few times.
If any of you were there and I missed you, sorry.
I learned a lot, not the least of them, I think I'm being too particular
with my work. I've only been into pottery for two years now, so I
know I have a lot to learn. But, I was amazed how much I do know
and the thanks, to a large degree, goes to this group. I could have sat
on the panel and fielded the questions from the group along with the
experts. I realized there are a lot of potters out there who have
been in pottery and selling their work for years who have a very
limted knowledge of pottery without the benefit of the knowledge
of this group. So thanks, Clayarters!!!!
I also learned that I have never in my entire life heard anyone
who could talk so much and so fast as Don Reitz. In twelve
hours I learned about all 70 years of his life. ;-)
It was a wonderful experience.
