Wait a minute, guys.Blowing up a few mugs in the bisque shouldn't lead us to
the conclusion that it is not wise to bisque during the humid part of the
year. Try lengthening that soaking period a little. Holding the kiln under 212
degrees or less for 4 hours or so should drive out any mechanical water even
in the most humid climate. I live in the desert but I routinely put freshly
thrown and handled mugs in the bisque and candle for about four hours. I
always check to see if steam is still coming out of the spy hole before
starting to slowly bring the temperature up. Put your hand up to the spy hole.
You should be able to feel if the air is dry. Or hold a piece of cool glass up
to the spy hole. If water condences on the glass let it soak some more. Joe
