Aloha all:
I have a nice Raku glaze that shrinks so much on drying that the whole
surface breaks up in dry riverbed-like cracks, a mosiac of 1/4" pieces.
Some of these will flake off before firing if not handled very carefully.
It's an interesting effect if that's what you're after. The glaze fires dry
and retains that texture at ^06 with nice color. I'd like to correct the
shrinkage and not have the cracking, however. How can I reduce this extreme
shrinkage and retain the character of the glaze? I've got a whole bucket
mixed up, is there a way to save it? Please cc a copy to me of any help.
Here's the recipe-
Moondust Raku
37 Magnesium Carbonate
28 Borax
12 EPK
7 Lithium
14 Gerstley Borate
2 Bentonite
10 Copper Carbonate
1.5 Soda Ash
Thanks, I love this forum,
Dean
