Anybody have any ideas on speeding up the drying process of extra thick
tiles (1 to 1 1/2") and sculptural pieces.

I have used a fan and/or stuck them in my oven (up to 3" thick) at
as much as 200 degrees with no problem. You need to be sure
that the air and heat can circulate around the piece uniformly (set
on a rack) or you may get warpage or cracks.
