Has anyone had experience slip casting their own electric kiln plugs, and
if so, suggestions for a durable, low shrinkage, (miracle) casting slip.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

Mike, I have used OM#4 Ball Clay as a slip and cast them for the plugs you
mention. It seems to work just fine for me.

kiln plugs? Do you mean those things to stick in the peep holes? My
instructor throws his own. A hollow cone shape works well... about a
quarter inch thick. Jams in there quite nicely.

Michael,
I make my own plugs just using the regular casting slip I use for other
things. I'm not sure the shrinkage is a factor you should worry about. As
long as your molds compensate, the finished product will work fine. Anyway,
as the plugs are tapered you do have quite a bit of leeway.
