I want to do some experimenting with my extruder, a Northstar, and haven't
been able to find anything on what different clay people have done with
extruders. Anyone out there know of any books, accessable articles, etc.
that might stimulate some thinking on the subject?
TIA

Roger: John Glick wrote an excellent article entitled "the Extruder as
Design Tool: An Expanded Usage" for Studio Potter some years back.
Unfortunately, the copy I have does not have a date on it. You could
probably find it in the Art Index at your local library.

Dear Roger,
There was an article or at least several photos in an issue of CM. It was
sometime in late 95. It showed several things people had done with
extruders. I have a Bailey, pneumatic driven extruder so if you'd like to
share ideas, I'm game. I thought it would be nice to extrude base trim for
my house and then alter it. The expansion box on mine is 10"x13" so I could
come up with some interesting profiles. So far I've used it for coils and a
few shapes. What a waste! Maybe extruder owners should start an
idea-a-month club.

I went to the local plastic shaping company and designed new openings to the
round template from original excruter. The triangle was a grand hit in
varying sizes!
