It has been my experience that one can get away with most any feldspar (or
combination) in copper reds. The feldspar(s) you use will affect the
particular red (or orange, purple, etc.) you get in the glaze you end up
with. To illustrate this, test the same glaze recipe with different
feldspars. You might be pleasantly surprised! The firing end point will
affect the color also.
BTW, if you are new to firing copper reds, know that the firing is pretty
critical. I recommend starting reduction by ^010. Then keep the
atmosphere slightly reducing or at least neutral all the way up.
Also, you will find some copper red formulas are more "forgiving" than
others (that is, easier to control).
