I've been meaning to send out an update on the Fireworks 98 Symposium, so
this letter to Peggy reminded me:
Confirmed: Warren MacKenzie, Jun Kuneko, Janet Mansfield, Fred Olsen,
Chuck Wissinger, John Chalke, Diane Sullivan, William Truchon (computer
graphics), Ryan Cameron. I think that's it. Maybe forgot somebody for a
panel.
Date: May 21-24.
Pre-Symposium Kilnbuilding workshop with Olsen, (MOn/Tues/Wed before).
Bring made pieces to fire.
Some things are not quite finalized, i.e. exact fee, but there will be a
considerable increase over the past years.
We are going to try to billet anybody who might need it to help out with
budgeting.
There should be an updated web page:
www://extension.ualberta.ca/finearts/fireworks
This promises to be a pretty exciting week. Usually, the atmosphere of the
workshop is very intimate. Small groups, allowing for personal contact and
private time with artists/craftsmen/friends one usually only sees from a
distance or finds no time for.
The Non-NCECA Symposium. My name for "Bigger is not always Better."
