I have a question to those out there using kiln vents:
Do you still keep the lid open and the peep holes open for the beginning
of a bisque firing if you employ a kiln vent system? I'm hoping that
the fumes and moisture will be drawn out by the vent and eliminate the
need for returning and closing the lid and peep holes. We could then
just use the controller to control the rate of rise and simplify the
firing process. I would think that the same would apply for a glaze
firing.
We're installing the Bailey double kiln vent and will likely go through
some adjustments in our firing schedule and routine but I would like to
get a head start and get it down pat sooner. Any assistance would be
appreciated.
Thanks
