flat porcelain tile: mission impossible?

Mary Ann: You don't mention the size of the tiles, or how they are being
made. However I will tell you how I have made REALLY flat tiles up to 6 & 8"
square. I throw a flat disc on the wheel to the desired thickness and
diameter and then cut the disc into a square tile. I don't wire cut the
tiles off the masonite bats because I don't want to disturb the very flat
nature the tiles have at this stage. Dry them slowly to the leather hard
state and remove them from the bats. This works well for me, but you'll have
to try this method and see if it works for you. I hope it does! If you have
a lot of these to make, throwing them might not be an efficient approach.

------I too will be tryig to make tiles for the first time for a special
project of mine. If you throw them how do you keep the thickness the
same? lauras@epix.net
