Hi Veronica,
You can post these to the list but make sure all my instructions are included.
If you want to test them first thats even better - wish I had time to do it
myself.
The original.
>Floating Blue (cone 6 ox.)
>47.3 Neph Sy
>27 Gerstley Borate
>20.3 Flint
>5.4 EPK
>2 Red Iron Ox.
>1.2 Cobalt Ox.
>4 Rutile
Total 107.2
Ratio 6.85
Expansion 504.73
#1 and 3 follow - to get #2 mix 1+3. I suggest you do it that way because
#2 just might be a possiblity and cheaper than #3. I don't know if they are
going to melt more because of the frits so be careful. Always mix at least
200 grams for tests.

Gers borate - 17.0
Frit 3134 - 13.0

The above are higher than the original in CaO because frit 3134 brings more
than is needed so the next set will be an even more exact copy.

Gers borate - 18.0
Frit 3278 - 12.0
Whiting - 2.0

All are durable glazes as far as I can see - including the original.
To all who try any of these - let me know how they work. It is possible
they will craze on some bodies - especialy vitrified porcelains. I can fix
that in some cases.

Thanks very much for the test possibilities, Ron. I will run them through
(at least the Frit 3134 ones for now - haven't got any 3278, will have to
order it and re-enter the outside world to pick it up sometime) and let you
all know what results. In due course. First - get over this #%!!*#!
flu, which has prevented me from getting to Vince's workshop in WA and I am
seriously disgruntled. Then, build the shelves and work surfaces in the
glazing area of my new temporary studio space, so that the glaze materials
can come out of storage. Then TO WORK tra-la tra-la - I've got a kiln load
of bisque waiting to be tested on.
